Paola Saunders

OSM Wrapped up NetworkHello, I am Paola Saunders and I established Essential Vitality’s Corporate On-Site Massage service in 2006.

I am proud of how much the business has achieved so far. For me, Essential Vitality has allowed me to combine work with devoting time to my family. I am very excited about the future for Essential Vitality and plan to expand the service and build on our professional team of practitioners.

Qualifications and Experience

With a HND in Beauty Therapy, I have over 20 years’ experience in the Health & Beauty Industry and have worked in a number of prestigious health clubs.
Lavender Oil and Stones for massage
I gained a Diploma in Seated Acupressure Massage (On-Site Massage) in 2006 after completing 50 massage case studies and a 6-day training course over 6 weeks. I continue to update and revise my skills in On-Site Massage with regular workshops and training. I have been trained by some of the best massage practitioners in the field.

Additional qualifications include a DSE Assessors Certificate and diplomas in Clinical Aromatherapy and Thermal Stone Massage.

When I have time!

In my leisure time I love designing and making clothes – a skill I have practised since I was 9 years old! I also love getting out in the fresh air either gardening or going out with family and friends. I keep fit by going to the gym, which helps to balance out my love of cooking and baking cakes!

Why I love what I do!

I believe that everyone can benefit from massage, especially in the workplace. And to be educated in, or reminded of, how to sit correctly at your desk can make a positive difference to wellbeing. Helping people to feel good whilst at work leads to a happier working environment. Promoting this is very close to my heart.

Debbie Foster

Hi, I’m Debbie Foster and my route to becoming a massage therapist was a little unusual. It’s a job that I’d never even really considered but after having two children (and giving up a career in Insurance to bring them up) I took an evening class in Indian Head Massage just for fun. I couldn’t believe the effects that the massage had on me. When I shared what I’d learned by practising on my family I saw the huge improvement in their general wellbeing, and I was sold!

I qualified as a Holistic Massage Therapist in 2009, followed by Hot Stone Therapy the same year. I trained and qualified in Seated Acupressure (On-Site) Massage with the Academy of On-Site Massage in 2010 and Additional Skills in 2011. Other therapies have followed but Seated Acupressure is my favourite therapy and I enjoy being part of the Essential Vitality team!

To know that I am going into workplaces, where people are generally the most stressed and tense and that I can make a positive difference to their day, and to their lives, is very rewarding. I love the fact that On-Site Massage reaches the people who need massage the most!

Outside of work my two lovely children, two young dogs and my involvement running a Beaver Scout Colony all keep me busy!

Julie McGall

Photo of Julie McGallHello, I’m Julie and after 20 years of corporate life, working at a desk, behind a computer, with its associated stress (and agonising shoulder tension!) I took the plunge in 2013 to pursue my dream of a much more fulfilling and rewarding career in complementary therapies. As well as gaining a City & Guilds Diploma in Seated Acupressure at the Academy of On-Site Massage, my training has included gaining qualifications in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Thai Foot Massage, Hot Stones and Deep Tissue Massage.

One of the things I like most about being a Seated Massage therapist is that it really does make a difference. Apart from easing the physical tension and both relaxing and energising staff it has an effect on morale. I am often told that people look forward to coming to work when it is massage day! After my years working in an office, it’s great that I can help to make a positive difference to someone’s day at work – I think On-Site Massage is simply fantastic!

In my spare time my husband and I help out the homeless in York. We collect and distribute items of food, clothing, bedding and just help out by listening and giving them a warm friendly smile.

Anne-Marie Manners

Hi, I’m Anne-Marie, I began working life as an administrative and social research assistant in the Civil Service, before succumbing to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In the process of recovery, I developed an interest in Complementary Health, particularly in relation to pain management and stress relief. I decided to retrain in massage, and to focus on treatments suitable for use in the workplace. Having seen and experienced the effect of workplace stress, I very much wanted to become a part of the solution, helping those in working environments to relax, maintain their health and be at their best.

I qualified in Indian Head Massage through ITEC and Hand Reflexology through the London School of Reflexology, before training in Seated Acupressure with the Association of Onsite Massage. It is very rewarding to see the positive effect of these treatments on people’s wellbeing – both immediately and over time. What I love most about them is that they work on the mind and body together to bring relief from strains and stresses to both at once. And of course, they make people feel good!

In my spare time, I like to get out and about in the natural world, whether that be walking in local woodland or tending to my own garden. I also enjoy helping my daughter with arts, crafts and science activities.

Helen Hopkin

Hi, I’m Helen and I qualified with a Diploma in On-Site Massage with the Academy of On-Site Massage in 2004, with on-going follow up courses in No-Hands Massage and Advanced Seated Acupressure. I enjoy providing Corporate On-Site Acupressure Massage and Indian Head Massage to Companies in the North West.

I’m also a Professional Clinical Aromatherapist (qualified 1998) and have qualifications in Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Indian Head Massage and Hot Stone Massage. In 2012 I qualified in Professional Clinical Reflexology, with qualifications in Nerve Reflexology and many other Reflexology specialisms. I offer these therapies to individuals.  My background is in Exercise and Sports Coaching and I have a keen interest in Yoga.

Jeannette Pike

Hi I’m Jeannette and I began my early career working for Astra Zeneca, the global pharmaceuticals company, in Cheshire and then Shell Aviation, based at Manchester Airport.  I then retrained as a Nurse, specialising in Acute Cardiology as Staff Nurse at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

In 2004 I moved to Ashbourne, Derbyshire and I became a full-time mum… Ten years on, I was daydreaming one afternoon about a wonderful seated massage I had received in Skipol airport many years earlier prior to a long-haul flight to Cuba. In a short space of time it had relaxed, refreshed and invigorated me in equal measures.  Remembering how great that massage had felt, I realised that this was how I wanted to resume caring for people, but this time in the context of the workplace.

First qualifying in Body Massage, I was then able to go on and train with the City and Guilds Accredited ‘Academy of On Site Massage’, and was awarded my Diploma in Seated Acupressure Massage in December 2015.

I believe my corporate background, nursing skills, massaging skills and general life experience make me a professional, skilful, reliable and effective Seated Acupressure Massage Practitioner. Since meeting Paola, I am delighted that she has invited me to become part of her team and I very much look forward to working with Essential Vitality.

In my spare time I enjoy walking in the Peak National Park. I am an accomplished Argentinian Tango dancer and am currently learning to ski!

Essential Vitality is pleased to welcome Helen and Jeannette, to join Julie, covering contracts for companies bases in the North of England.
